Football touchdown rule history11/22/2023 ![]() Helped by furious contentions and beautiful conventions, school football still holds broad intrigue in the United States. Bowl games, a school/college football traditions, pulled in a national group of onlookers for school groups. The school football became famous as it turned into the simplified variant of the game in the United States for the central portion of the twentieth century. Davis, Glenn "Pop" Warner, and Knute Rockne helped exploit the recently presented forward pass. In the late nineteenth and mid- twentieth centuries, ongoing interaction advancements by school mentors, for example, Eddie Cochems, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Parke H. Among these critical changes were the presentation of the line of scrimmage, of down-and-remove rules and of the sanctioning of blocking. The two diversions have their source in assortments of football played in Britain in the mid-nineteenth century, in which a football is kicked at an objective or kicked over a line, which this way depended on the assortments of English public school football match-ups.Īmerican football came about because of a few noteworthy divergences from association football and rugby football, most outstandingly the rules changes founded by Walter Camp, a Yale University and Hopkins School graduate who is viewed as the " Father of American Football". The historical backdrop of American football can be followed to early forms of rugby football and association football. It is also the most popular game in the country whereas, professional and college football are the two most popular forms of the sport. The objective is to score more points by the way of more number of goals than the opponent team in order to win the game. The sport was originated in the United States and is the combination of association football and rugby. The sport is played on a rectangular field with goal-posts at the end by two teams of eleven players each with an oval-shaped ball. American rules football is a team sport played in the United States which is commonly referred to as football in the US and Canada and is famously known as “ gridiron football” or simply “gridiron”.

Chrome sign pdf11/22/2023 ![]() In the Fall Creators Update, however, Microsoft has extended markup capabilities to PDF files as well. Technically, you’ve been able to mark up a webpage ever since Windows Ink capabilities were introduced more than a year ago. The ability to annotate or mark up a PDF with a digital pen is probably the most subtle yet potent feature of Edge’s new PDF capabilities. One area it could improve, though, is beginning the narration at a user-indicated location, rather than beginning at the top of the document and then going line-by-line down the page. As it does with its ebook capabilities, Microsoft’s Edge browser offers the ability to read the PDF aloud. In assistive technologies, though, Edge redeems itself. Microsoft’s narrator can read a PDF document aloud, something rival browsers can’t do. Microsoft might think about making that distinction more explicit. You (or anyone else) won’t be able to manipulate those fields or edit your text. Just be a bit careful: If you save the PDF within Edge, it’s still editable, and any field or data that you can manipulate could also be edited by whoever receives the PDF. Instead, to lock the PDF into read-only mode, you’ll need to “Print to PDF” and then save that file. Here, you can fill out a form and then-using an actual Save dialog-store the filled-out form to your hard drive. The ability to type into and fill fields not only can make a document easier to process, it also looks nice and neat.Įdge does away with this nonsense. Right now, both Chrome and Opera boast fillable PDF fields, while the Creators Update version of Edge did not. With both browsers, though, you can’t save a PDF file with fields filled out, unless you “print” to the Microsoft Print to PDF service. Edge will have fillable PDF fieldsįillable PDF forms don’t just look nicer-they can also speed up the processing of important documents like IRS tax filings. Note that it can’t fill fields, though, and actually recommends another browser or app to do so. IDGīy contrast, the Firefox PDF viewer is pretty robust. The new version of Edge within the Fall Creators Update, though, helps put Edge over the top. Here’s a quick rundown of how each feature works. Chrome and the Chromium-based Opera browser allow you to fill in fields with data, making them marginally more useful. Of the major browsers, Firefox currently has the most robust tools for viewing PDF files. But as soon as I reinstalled Chrome it took over again. The Edge PDF viewer available in the Creators’ Update is pretty bare-bones. Liquid vitamin d11/21/2023 ![]() Serum concentrations of 25(OH)D are reported in both nanomoles per liter (nmol/L) and nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL). In serum, 25(OH)D has a fairly long circulating half-life of 15 days. It reflects vitamin D produced endogenously and that obtained from foods and supplements. Serum concentration of 25(OH)D is currently the main indicator of vitamin D status. Neither aging nor obesity alters vitamin D absorption from the gut. ![]() The concurrent presence of fat in the gut enhances vitamin D absorption, but some vitamin D is absorbed even without dietary fat. Absorption occurs by simple passive diffusion and by a mechanism that involves intestinal membrane carrier proteins. Both forms are well absorbed in the small intestine. In foods and dietary supplements, vitamin D has two main forms, D 2 (ergocalciferol) and D 3 (cholecalciferol), that differ chemically only in their side-chain structures. Many tissues have vitamin D receptors, and some convert 25(OH)D to 1,25(OH)2D. Many genes encoding proteins that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis are modulated in part by vitamin D. Vitamin D has other roles in the body, including reduction of inflammation as well as modulation of such processes as cell growth, neuromuscular and immune function, and glucose metabolism. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis. Vitamin D sufficiency prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Without sufficient vitamin D, bones can become thin, brittle, or misshapen. It is also needed for bone growth and bone remodeling by osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal bone mineralization and to prevent hypocalcemic tetany (involuntary contraction of muscles, leading to cramps and spasms). The first hydroxylation, which occurs in the liver, converts vitamin D to 25-hydroxyvitamin D, also known as "calcidiol." The second hydroxylation occurs primarily in the kidney and forms the physiologically active 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, also known as "calcitriol". Vitamin D obtained from sun exposure, foods, and supplements is biologically inert and must undergo two hydroxylations in the body for activation. It is also produced endogenously when ultraviolet (UV) rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D (also referred to as "calciferol") is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in a few foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. James captures revealing and intimate conversations with the four siblings and their parents - including the mother who didn't want her husband to go into banking.Īs the Sungs discuss strategy, food, and favorite movies, the film makes a compelling argument that no matter how the trial ends, targeting Abacus was an absurdly inappropriate substitute for prosecuting the behemoths who caused the 2008 debacle. After the indictment, two other sisters rallied to the cause. Much of the movie, however, is concerned less with the trial than the Sung family. ![]() Her recollections keep the narrative taut until what, in Frank Capra's day, was termed the final reel. He paired that with audio reenactments based on the trial transcript.Ĭinematically, the most important piece of the legal story is a juror who was inclined to vote guilty. Unable to cover the trial with cameras or recording equipment, the director sent a courtroom illustrator to capture some of the action. If they're not quite so sympathetic as the Sungs, that begins with an astounding miscalculation: After indicting the Abacus employees, authorities chained them together and paraded them for a photo-op that even Vance calls "very unfortunate." Yet he's careful to present the government's case, and to include interviews with the DA, Cyrus Vance Jr., and the lead prosecutor, Polly Greenberg. James was introduced to the story by a friend of the Sungs, and spent most of his time with the family. Yu became the chief witness for the prosecution, and the trial process lasted five years. They reported their suspicions to banking regulators, and were rewarded with the indictments. Thomas Sung even once halted a bank run with the aplomb of James Stewart's George Bailey.Ībacus' managers did eventually learn of Yu's activities, and fired him and two others. Shanghai-born but all-American, Thomas Sung is a devotee of It's a Wonderful Life, an affection James could hardly help but exploit. That includes Jill Sung and Vera Sung, the English-speaking, Connecticut-raised sisters who had inherited day-to-day operations from their father, one of the bank's founders. Also, Yu spoke a dialect that even most of his fellow Abacus employees didn't understand. His activities were hard to track, because, as the film explains, Chinatown residents are more likely to make cash transactions than the average American consumer. The problem was a loan officer, Ken Yu, who asked borrowers for bribes and falsified income statements for mortgage applications. In fact, the bank had one of the lowest default rates in the country. The Chinatown-based bank also didn't package its mortgages into the sort of financial instruments that made The Big Short's machinations so arcane. It should engross most viewers, even those who've resisted learning what a subprime mortgage is.Īs it happens, Abacus didn't deal in subprime. That's because his Abacus: Small Enough to Jail is a compelling non-fiction thriller. The case was little covered at the time, and while its outcome is a matter of public record, James prefers that reviewers not reveal whether the verdict was guilty, innocent, or mixed. In May 2012, New York's district attorney brought charges against Abacus Federal Savings Bank and 19 of its employees. Hoop Dreams director Steve James is here to say that's not true. From the pages of sober financial journals to Hollywood's slapstick-econ adaptation of The Big Short, commentators often note that no American banks were indicted in the wake of the 2008 financial cave-in. Dying light 2 ps4 co op11/21/2023 ![]() The pacing of missions may change because there are more people running around but the changes make the game fun in its own unique way. And it lets the world feel a little more full.ĭying Light 2 coop mode kicks the doors wide open to make the playground of Haran enjoyable for you and your friends. It’s more enjoyable when you’re hanging out with friends and parkouring up and down tall buildings while slaying zombies. Not with the story, but through gameplay. Playing Dying Light 2 coop is like playing a different game. It may take some of the tension and drama out of the story, but that is more than made up for by simply having a good time with friends and watching them drop kick bandits off rooftops. Do you recommend people play the whole game in co-op if given the opportunity?Īrron: You cannot start playing in co-op until you finish the prologue, but after that, it is a free game and I would definitely recommend doing so. And my friends didn’t mind not progressing in their own story since they returned to their Haran with overpowered equipment that let them quickly conquer the same missions. But when talking to them about what’s changed for them when they return, it keeps all progress made except with which missions you’ve completed. Mick : I have had friends join my game so I couldn’t really notice. One-time lootables like Inhibitors can also be looted, but only if you haven’t found them before in your own save file. However, playing online still carried over any equipment I looted as well as gaining parkour and combat experience to continue leveling up. What changed in your single-player game when you finished playing co-op?Īrron: Whenever I’ve played co-op I’ve been further in the story than the other player, so I’ve only been replaying content. Being able to divide and conquer or gang up on tougher enemies is really fun. With two players, they were much more manageable. Certain missions when playing solo felt challenging because of overwhelming enemies or being time-sensitive. Mick : I found co-op to be much easier than playing solo. This difficulty is offset, however, by being able to revive and use healing items on other players. Combat encounters are larger, forcing you to stay with your friends, otherwise you’ll easily get overwhelmed. Were there any noticeable differences in difficulty playing Co-op?Īrron: The difficulty was definitely different, but it balanced out pretty well. ![]() Having locations made for co-op akin to expeditions in Far Cry New Dawn could really push people to play with their friends, try new builds, and let the developers come up with some really cool and unique scenarios for the players to parkour through. ![]() While it’s fun to play through the campaign and knock out side quests with friends, they don’t carry over to your own game. Mick : I hope that Techland adds co-op-specific missions or challenges. Techland announced plans to support the game for five years after launch, and getting harder raid or operation content that pushes players to work together and optimize builds would be a great way to really challenge players and reward them for engaging with all of its mechanics and systems. What do you hope gets updated for Co-op?Īrron: I would really like to see some more coop-centric content in the future updates for the game. I’m not sure why non-online-focused games have moved away from this, but it’s nice to see Dying Light 2 just let you be who you’ve been playing as and with your friends. There is no mimicking the person you’re playing with, you are the character you’ve built weapons and all. Mick : What I enjoyed most about Dying Light 2 coop is how you play as your character. When playing single-player they aren’t important until the latest stages of the game, but in co-op, they can be a really fun way to differentiate your playstyle from your friends and have each of you excel at different things. What standout features do you like about Dying Light 2 coop?Īrron: The main feature that co-op changes in Dying Light 2 are the equipment builds. Arron Kluz and I dove headfirst into the Dying Light 2 coop to let you know what made the experience stand out from the single-player mode. Co-op allows up to four players to explore Haran and play through the entirety of Dying Light 2 after players complete the tutorial mission.
